Literary blog #4
The author James Patterson writes some chapters in first person, some in third omniscient and others in third limited, in his book "Private Games". For each characters POV that he writes in, he changes whether his writing is formal, informal, or casual. He switches point of views from Knight to Pope to Cronus and sometimes to the Furies. Cronus has a formal language, more so than Knight does. Some things that Pope says are formal but other times they are more informal. The novel is organized into divisions of a prologue three books and an epilogue. It could also be organized in chronological order. The story goes in the order of the events. I think the author did this because he enjoys writing differently and he gets to learn how to write many different ways by writing in so many different ways. It makes reading a lot more fun for the audience, for they get to experience different writing styles. for example when it's in Cronus's point of view they write"Darkness falls on London, and my old friend hatred stirs at the thought that my entire life has all prelude to this fateful moment, exactly twenty-four hours before the opening ceremonies of the most hypocritical event on earth." His writing is very formal there.
